2017 was a dry year in Iowa

State officials say 2017 was a dry year for most of Iowa. The report says an average of 33 inches of rain fell last year across the state--more than two inches below normal. Southeast Iowa was hit hardest by a lack of rain, while various counties toward the northeast and the west were above normal. As for the month-by-month breakdown, October was the wettest recorded month at an average of more than five inches.
