For the first time in 17 years, Iowa's unemployment rate is below three percent. Iowa Workforce Development says just 2.9 percent of Iowans were without work in November. IWD says 6,300 jobs were added by Iowa businesses during the month and manufacturing is showing renewed strength. The national average is still 4.1 percent. Iowa's jobless rate was fifth best in November--tied with Vermont, Idaho and Colorado.
