Ames Council passes rental rules

New rental occupancy rules in Ames are a step away from reality--a final step that will wait for a new city council, and new year.   The council, Tuesday, gave second-reading approval for the measure, but chose not to suspend it's rules for a third reading and adoption. At-large Council Member Amber Corrieri joined the Fourth Ward's Chris Nelson voting against the measure. She says it's too much, being done too quickly. A new state law striking down Ames' current rental occupancy code goes into effect January 1st.  The council holds it's first meeting of 2018 on January 9th.
