The Iowa Department of Agriculture is encouraging Iowans to consider beekeeping as a hobby or business. The state is hosting beekeeping schools around Iowa in 2018. A record number of 36 courses will be held for both the beginner and advanced bee keeper. There are currently about 4,500 beekeepers in iowa that manage more than 45,000 colonies of honey bees.
