The Ames City Council closes 2017 Tuesday with it's second meeting in as many weeks. Mayor Ann Campbell says the biggest agenda item is the second reading of a new rental occupancy ordinance. She says it's unclear if the council will ask for a suspension of the rules and hold a third reading and passage of the measure. If that doesn't happen, Campbell says the council could also schedule the third reading at a special meeting next week or wait for the first meeting of January. Tuesday night's council meeting in City Hall starts at six.
