Rep. King gets primary foe

Iowa 4th District Congressman Steve King has a 2018 Republican primary challenger. Long-time Sioux City resident Cyndi Hanson announced her run this week, saying she's a more moderate Republican and will seek a less controversial path to solving problems than King has. She says fiscal responsibility is a top priority but also wants to focus on agricultural issues, biotechnology and renewable fuels. Hanson's run is the second time in as many election years that a Republican has launched a primary challenge to King. Sioux City state senator Rick Bertrand lost to King by 30 points in 2016. Four Democrats are vying to face the Republican nominee. King was first elected to Congress in 2002.
