The Ames Police Department's investigating the overnight armed robbery of southside covenenice store. The department says the Swift Stop at 1118 S. Duff Ave. was robbed just before 2:30 a.m. The suspect was described as a black male, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a baseball cap, and orange pants. He pointed a handgun at the clerk, and demanded money from the register. The man then left the store southbound toward the Best Buy parking lot. Anyone with information on the crime should call the Ames Police Department or Crime Stoppers of Story County.
