Council moves forward Crawford development

The Ames City Council is clearing the way for the old Crawford Elementary School building in Campustown to be renovated into an apartment building. The council, Tuesday, changed the building's land use designation and approved tax abatements for the construction. South Campus Area Neighborhood Association board member Leslie Kwaler says the group is excited about the project. Developers say they'll market the apartments for people 55 and older.
