The Ames Police Dpeartment's investigating a murder on the city's west side. In a news relsease, the department says officers responded to a shooting just after 3:30 Saturday morning in an apartment at 1311 Mayfield Dr. A male victim in his 20s was located suffering from a single gunshot wound to the upper torso. The man was taken to Mary Greely Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Witnesses SAY two men entered the apartment wearing masks in what appeared to be a robbery. During that time, a single shot fired by one of the suspects hitting The victim. They also say the suspects left in what appeared to be a black or blue Chevrolet Avalanche.
