Ames city elections are certified

The Story County Board of Supervisors, acting in it's role the Board of Canvassers, have officially certified the outcome of Tuesday's Ames city elections. Mayor-Elect John Haila got 4,747 of the 8,140 votes cast, beating Victoria Szopinski, by 1,366 votes. Compared to Tuesday’s unofficial results, Haila gained nine votes while Szopinski gained seven. In the Ames City Council's 3rd Ward race, David Martin got 900 votes to Rob Bowers’ 831--a 69 vote margin. Martin gained four votes while Bowers added two more. Unopposed council members Gloria Betcher and Amber Corrieri each got more than 97 percent of the vote. The Mary Greeley Medical Center Board of Trustees vote also stood--incumbent Mary Kitchell and newcomer Beth Swenson won the two available seats in a three-way race.  Incumbent Pamela White was not reelected.
