Democrat lawmakers push to end privatized Medicaid

Iowa Democrats are again looking to end the state's privately run Medicaid program.  The state's Medicaid program would no longer be run by private companies under the proposal put forward by Des Moines senator Matt McCoy and Urbandale representative John Forbes.  As part of that proposal, they want to pass a new public health insurance option allowing many Iowans to purchase coverage.  House Speaker Linda Upmeyer was one of many Republicans to rip the proposal, calling it  unworkable.
