A judge is throwing out the Iowa State Education Association's lawsuit over the state's collective bargaining laws. The teacher's union's suit claimed changes to collective bargaining laws were unconstitutional. The union filed the lawsuit in April to challenge the law, which weakens the power of public-sector workers to collectively bargain for benefits and pay. The new law limits most public-sector union contract negotiations to base pay and prevents discussions with employers over health insurance, staff reduction and employee evaluation processes.
