Cedar Rapids Mayor Ron Corbett says if he's elected governor, the Eldora State Training school will stay open. Corbett made that promise after touring the school Wednesday despite some harsh criticism from Disability Rights Iowa this summer. The group published a report in August that said restraints were being used against the boys at the facility and so were seclusion rooms. Corbett wants services for mental health to be increased, but he said the facility's programming has improved.
