The Iowa Department of Public Health says there has been a second death in the state from the West Nile Virus. The victim is a woman over the age of 81 from east-central Iowa. The first death was reported late last month. Officials say most people have no symptoms with West Nile, but a few will get seriously ill and at times it will prove deadly. The virus is carried by mosquitoes and until there's a hard frost the mosquitoes will be biting. People are advised to reduce the risk of getting infected by using insect repellent containing DEET and wearing long sleeves and pants in mosquito prone areas.
