Okay I know if you get the day off you’ll support any holiday proposed, but Columbus Day, really? This so called “Hero” brought a scourge to the islands off our Eastern coast, he never set foot on our countries soil. He really didn’t represent Italy but sailed for Spain. Don’t get me wrong, anyone who’s willing to take to the sea with the possibility of sailing over the edge of the earth gets lots of credit for bravery and quite honestly may have been his best accomplishment, but for us to celebrate the myth of him discovering America and give it to the potentially correct explorer Amerigo Vespucci another Italian but actually representing Italy. I would expect a protest from those who believe it was Leif Ericsen. The truth is you don’t really care who discovered America as long as you get the day off plus the Columbus Day Sales suck!
