Boy wounded in freak shooting accident

A boy wounded by a stray bullet in a northeast Iowa apple orchard in is reportedly in stable condition. Chickasaw County Sheriff Martin Hemann says the eight-year-old remains hospitalized and is recovering. The boy was shot in Nashua on Sunday while picking apples with his family. The bullet was fired at the nearby Nashua Fish and Game Club. Hemann says the incident was a "freak accident" and is not being investigated as a criminal act.
