The Ames City Council got it's first look Tuesday at plans for the vacant Crawford elementary school building. Developer Luke Jensen says they want to turn the building into apartments for people 55 and older. He says they'll make the building bigger to accomodate 32 units, but want to preserve it's historic look. South Campus Area Neighborhood Association president Barbara Plesents says they like plans for the old Crawford building, and appreciate being included in the development plans. Builders say they want to have construction on the building done by the winter of 2019.
