Paschen launches 4th District bid

An Ames pediatrician feels he "has no choice" but to run for Congress. Democrat John Paschen announced his candidacy for the 4th District Tuesday at his home. He says his decision was prompted by comments from Republican congressman Steve King on taking money away from food stamps for kids to pay for an wall blocking illegal immigration between the U.S. and Mexico. Paschen also says he'll bring a medical perspective to the health care debate. He says he plans to start building grassroots support by visiting hospitals, farmers and democratic leaders throughout the 4th District. Paschen fellow Democrats J.D. Scholten, Leann Jacobson, and Paul Dahl in the race to unseat King.
