The Ames City Council will include in next year's budget a plan to put cameras in Campustown. Police Chief Chuck Cychosz says they'll use a camera system managed by Iowa State Facilities Planning and Management as part of it's campus-wide services. ISU Student Government Campustown senator Ian Steenhoeck says his constituancy backs the cameras plan. Six cameras in five Campustown locations have an up-front cost of nearly $50,000, with on-going annual costs of near $3,000. Funding for the system will be included in the budget development process for consideration by the City Council in the Fiscal Year 2018-19 budget.
