Governor Reynolds says there will be no special Legislative session needed to reconcile the state's budget woes for fiscal year 2017. She says the expected shortfall for iowa's budget is $14.6 million. The governor will combine $13 million from the state's economic emergency fund with the $1.6 million ending balance, to cover the shortfall. Reynolds says it's been a difficult budget year, but she's happy lower-than-expected revenues were managed without cuts to education or Medicaid.
