Paschen to run for Congress

An Ames physician says he's running for Congress.  Dr. John Paschen, a pediatrician at McFarland Clinic, confirmed to media outlets this week that he'll seek the Democratic party's nomination for the 4th District seat currently held by Republican Steve King.  Paschen enters an already crowded field with Sioux City paralegal J.D. Scholten, Spencer city council member Leann Jacobsen and Webster City transit worker Paul Dahl. Paschen, who's worked in Ames for 27 years, says he's been thinking about a run since july.  As a doctor, he says he thinks he'll bring an important perspective to the ongoing efforts by President Trump and Congressional Republicans to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.  Paschen says he'll officially announce his campaign on October 3rd.
