Iowa's extreme dought conditions persit

Above normal temperatures and dry conditions are keeping parts of south central and southeast Iowa in extreme drought status.  Temperatures averaged from one degree above normal in the southeast to six to eight degrees above normal over the north and west.  Topsoil moisture levels rated 21 percent very short and only 49 percent adequate.  Subsoil moisture levels rated 20 percent very short and just 46 percent adequate.
