There will be no changes to the rules for building an animal feeding operation in Iowa. The Iowa Environmental Protection Commission denied a request from the Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement and Food and Water Watch. They wanted the standards to be raised for any operation that's built in Iowa, saying the new rules would help things like air quality. Opponents said the changes would lead to no new operations being built and commission members said it's up to the legislature to decide the issue.
