Organizers of a Miracle Park in Ames kicked off a public effort Saturday to raise $1.7 million to build it, using a $300,000 donation from Ames native and NBA forward Harrison Barnes. The baseball-style facility, to be located at Inis Grove Park, will accomodate those with intellectual and physical disabilities. Supporters of the Miracle Park hope raise the rest of the money by the end of the year. They want to have the park open by the summer of 2019.
