Iowa's drought situation is getting worse. The latest U.S. Drought Monitor Report finds slightly more than three-percent of the state is under extreme drought. That affects south central Iowa while the biggest jump came under the abnormally dry category, which now covers 70 percent of the state. Western and northern Iowa are in the best shape as most of those areas aren't seeing any drought conditions.
