Iowa crop report says harvest is near

The latest crop report finds 60 percent of Iowa's corn is rated good to excellent.  Soybean conditions rated 61 percent good to excellent. Iowa Ag Secretary Bill Northey says 76 percent of the corn crop has reached "dent" stage or beyond, which is three days behind the five year average.  Forty-seven percent of soybeans are turning color, one day behind average. The report notes the dry conditions continue, with only localized showers last week. South central and southeast Iowa countinue to be the driest part of the state, with over 80-percent of topsoil moisture rated short to very short.
