Drone assists rural Iowa rescue

A rescue effort in Allamakee County is proving to be another example of the value of drones.  The county sheriff's office contacted the Decorah Fire Department Monday for help finding six people missing on the Yellow River.  On its Facebook page, the fire department said its crew located three people within ten minutes of launching the drone and dropped a two-way radio to assist in finding them.  Minutes later firefighters used the drone's thermal imaging camera to find three more people downstream.  Rescuers then headed out on utility vehicles to pick them up.
