City wants "Complete Streets" study

The Ames City Council will pay a Wisconsin firm nearly $100,000 to develop a so-called "complete streets" plan for city.  "Complete streets" is a transportation concept that involves not just cars and trucks, but also busses, bicycles and pedestrians.  Traffic Engineer Damion Pregitzer says it will be a plan unique to Ames. Second Ward Council Member Tim Gartin expressed some "complete streets" skepticism, wondering how much more expensive the plan will make streets to build. The Wisconsin consulting firm says it will have a "complete streets" plan back to the city by July of next year.
