A Maxwell man who police thought might have been a danger to himself or others gave himself up to authorities late Sunday night after barricading himself in a house. The Story County Sheriff's Office says the incident began just after 5:00 p.m. when deputies were called to the 500 block of 2nd St. in Maxwell following a report of a man with multiple weapons. The sheriff's office says negotiators were called to the scene to convince the individual to leave the residence. Barricades were set up to block the roads near the residence for the public's safety. The man gave himself up just before 10:00 p.m. he was taken to a medical facility for a mental health evaluation. There were no injuries to him or law enforcement. No charges have been filed yet. The man's name has not been released.
