A Cambridge man is dead after a head-on collision in rural Story County. In a news release, the sherrif's office says the incident happened near the intersection of Iowa Hwy. 210 and 610th Ave. just before 6:00 a.m. A Dodge Durango driven by John King, 60, of Cambridge, was eastbound on 210 when it crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and collided with a GMC Yukon driven by Ronda Birchmier. King was pronounced dead at the scene. Birchmier was taken by helicopter to a Des Moines hospital. The sheriff’s office says her injuries are not life threatening.
