Iowa Senator Joni Ernst says Americans who are qualified and can meet the standards to serve in the military should be afforded that opportunity. Ernst commented on President Trump's announcement that he'll bar transgender individuals from serving "in any capacity" in the military. She says as a veteran, she served alongside service members from different backgrounds and parts of the county. Ernst says the most important thing is making sure service members can meet the physical training standards and have the willingness to "defend our freedoms and way of life."
