Iowans split on fireworks use

Iowans apparently are as happy as they are unhappy about the legal use of fireworks. A new Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll shows 46 percent of Iowans both support and oppose legal fireworks.  Back in February, 65 percent of Iowans surveyed said they supported legalized fireworks.  That came before lawmakers passed a bill allowing the sale and use of the devices, but a noisy Independence Day holiday in many cities caused residents to complain to their local city officials.
