Council to discuss City Attorney, State Ave. development

The Ames City Council will use last month's retirement of City Attorney Judy Parks to examine the job's future. Mayor Ann Campbell says they'll review the position Tuesday and determine if it should continue to be a council appointment. She also says city staff and a local builder have gone back to the drawing board on a housing development at the former Ames Middle School property. Campbell says a plan before the council last month was more than $400,000 higher than the city's budget. The proposal calls for a mix of market-rate and low and moderate income housing on State Ave.
