An Ames church is considering joining nearly a dozen Iowa congregations considering becoming sanctuaries for undocumented immigrants. A news release from the American Friends Service Committee says there are 11 churches considering forming the Iowa Sanctuary. The group says it's an effort to build a "network of faith communities" to support immigrant families targeted under the Trump administration. The senior minister of Ames United Church of Christ says her church is considering the move because it fits with its religious beliefs.
