Ames Police see fireworks complaints double

It should probably come as no surprise that the Ames Police Department has taken a lot more fireworks complaints after the Iowa Legislature made them legal to sell this year. Cmdr. Geoff Huff says, as of Thursday morning, they took 41 calls--compared with 20 from June 15th to July 4th, 2016.  He says those who make complaint calls to the police department are probably going to be disappointed if they want an immediate response, as many of them come at a time when officers are at thier busiest and won't be a top priority. Huff says those who sell fireworks in Ames have put up signs reminding customers that it's still illegal to use fireworks without a permit.
