A public hearing will be held in August to discuss Medica's proposal to raise the cost of premiums in Iowa. Medica said earlier this month it intends to sell health insurance policies in Iowa next year, but first needs a 43.5 percent premium increase. Medica says the spike in a customer's monthly premium would mostly be offset by an increased Affordable Care Act subsidy. The meeting with the Iowa Insurance Division takes place on August 26th.
