An Ames woman has been charged in her girlfriend’s death after police say she gave her a lethal amount of a synthetic opioid last December. Sadie Dalgliesh, 22, was charged Saturday with involuntary manslaughter. Court records show police responded to a report of an unresponsive woman in the early morning hours of December 10th at 245 S. Franklin Ave. Tashara Burnside was taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center, then Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. she was pronounced dead a week later. Dalgliesh told police the two used the drug U4 together the night before. Officers found the drug after getting a search warrant. An autopsy showed Burnside's death was due to an opiate overdose. Dalgliesh posted a $2,000 bond Monday. Her preliminary hearing is set for Monday.
