State Patrol stresses seatbelt use

The Iowa State Patrol says it cannot emphasize enough that seatbelts save lives.  The patrol says five people died on Iowa roads over the weekend and the lack of seatbelt use was an issue in some of the cases.  ISP says nearly 40 percent of the 131 deaths this year have been drivers or passengers not wearing a seatbelt.  Troopers also say distracted driving and speeding are other major factors leading to crashes causing severe injury or death.
