Planting is finally complete after dry weather allowed farmers nearly seven full days of fieldwork. State Agriculture Secretary Bill Northey says most of the state could now use a good soaking rain as the high temperatures and windy conditions have dried things out. He says some crops are starting to show stress as a result. Seventy-seven-percent of the corn and oat crop were rated in good to excellent condition last week and soybean conditions rated 73-percent good to excellent.
