Regents approve tuition increase

It's will be more expensive to attend Iowa's three public universities this fall. The Iowa Board of Regents, Thursday, approved an across-the-board $216 tuition hike for all students at Iowa State University and Northern Iowa. Resident undergraduates at the University of Iowa will see a $216 increase, but increases for out-of-state, graduate and professional students will range from nearly $1,100 to more than $2,500. During the first reading of the tuition proposal last month, presidents from the three universities argued the increases were needed after the Iowa legislature reduced state funding by nearly $30 million.
