A drug that can reverse an opioid overdose is now available at all Hy-Vee locations without a prescription. The company says stores in Iowa, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Missouri are offering the nasal spray Naloxone without a prescription. It's not a cure, but in many situations it can save someone from dying from an overdose of heroine or prescription opioids. Hy-Vee officials say the availability of Naloxone gives those who have loved ones battling addiction or who may mix prescriptions with unintended results, a chance to save a life if the need arises.
