Fireworks are now legal in Iowa, but one city in the Des Moines area is already "no thanks". Governor Branstad signed a bill Tuesday allowing for the sale and use of fireworks from June 1st through July 8th and December 10th through January 3rd. However, the Des Moines suburb of Urbandale is already using the bill's opt-out clause available to cities and counties. The city council voted unanimously Tuesday to keep the city's ordinance banning fireworks.
