State university presidents talk tuition hike

The presidents of Iowa's public universities are making sure the Board of Regents hears them on the topic of tuition. A telephonic meeting was held Monday where outgoing Iowa State President Steven Leath criticized the state of Iowa's funding model he says hurts the state's universities.  UNI President Mark Nook said the tuition increases won't be enough. University of Iowa President Bruce Harreld said the school is looking at a cost increase plan over five years. The tuition increase plan calls for resident undergraduates to pay $358 more in the next school year while non-resident undergraduates would pay even more at Iowa State and Iowa.
