One of Ames biggest roads projects is underway. City Traffic Engineer Damion Pregizer says work starts on traffic impovements on S. Duff Ave. He says the addition of a median and traffic signal became necessary when development on that stretch of road brought more cars--and more accidents. Pregizer says the city's asked the contractor to make the S. Duff project a priority to finish within three weeks. He says the turn lane and two inside lanes will be closed to accomdate the work. Pregizer says while traffic will use the outside lines, it's advised that anyone who doesn't have to use S. Duff should find an alternate route.
