Iowa Governor Terry Branstad is promising to uphold American values if he's confirmed as the U.S. Ambassador to China. At his confirmation hearing, Branstad said those values include upholding human rights, free trade and a free press. He said he's also committed to making sure that America's trade relationship with China puts American workers first. He expressed the need to work closely with China when confronting North Korea. He said China could play a key role in getting North Korea to halt its nuclear weapons and missile programs. He said doing that would boost security not only for America and China, but for the entire world.
