Ames woman pleads guilty to theft from mother-in-law

A six-figure theft from her mother-in-law is sending an Ames woman to prison. Myrna Rae Hockemeier will spend ten years in prison after pleading guilty this week to a 1st-degree theft charge. She admitted to the crime that happened between 2007 and 2014, which resulted in her mother-in-law losing more than $400,000. Authorities say Hockemeier abused her power of attorney privilege.
