Council member demands action on indoor pool

The most pointed comments during Tuesday's Ames City Council meeting came at very nearly it's end.  During the session's "council comments" At-large member Amber Corrieri expressed frustration with a lack of action on a new indoor aquatic center. She got support for a motion to direct City Manager Steve Schainker to meet with Ames School District administrators--a move that came 24 hours after a similar motion from the school board during a meeting Corrieri described as "frustrating." She says she knows superintendent Tim Taylor and Schainker have had conversations on the issue, despite the fact that Taylor says he'd never seen a proposal. Earlier in the meeting, Parks and Recreation Director Keith Abraham told the council his department is doing extensive testing on the air and water at municipal pool after claims from parents that it was making their kids sick.
