Raising tuition at Iowa's public universities needs to be one of the top priorities for the Board of Regents. At a meeting in Council Bluffs Thursday, outgoing president Bruce Rastetter says the board must deal with the "stark reality" of decreasing state revenues for public universities. A two-percent increase in resident tuition has already been approved for this upcoming year. However nearly $21 million in funding has been cut for the current fiscal year and future budgets will probably suffer similar cuts.
