Lawmakers act on budget bills

Iowa lawmakers are beginning to pass spending bills as they aim to end the legislative session this week.  The Senate passed multiple budgets Monday, including agriculture, the judicial branch and the justice system.  Funding for the prison system would be cut under the budget, which caused Des Moines Democrat Senator Nate Boulton to speak against it on the floor.  The House debated and passed an education budget, which includes cuts to all three public universities.
