Ames lawmaker says Regents' cuts mean higher tution

An Ames legislator claims Republicans aren't telling the whole story about budget cuts to the Regents universities. Herman Quirmbach, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Education Committee, says the GOP cuts are deeper than the nearly $25 million they profess. He says, compared to last year's appropriation, this year's cuts are closer to $31 million.  Quirmbach says cuts to the Regents system mean costs almost certain tuition increases for students.
